Soul Midwifery

In years gone by the role of a midwife in a small community in Britain was not only to help women to give birth, but often to lay out the body of a person who had died. The term Soul Midwife borrows some of that notion of assisting someone to be born into another world as they leave this one.  Felicity Warner coined the term Soul Midwifery, denoting the role of a psychopomp, or someone who helps a spirit to move safely into the next realm.
